The defeated Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, Alfred Kwame Agbesi, has accused some national executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and his Constituency Chairman of masterminding his defeat by supporting his opponent, Ernest Norgbey.

[contextly_sidebar id=”zIMRKqd2c7BirUlt9trmNuTyQH91IgnP”]Alfred Agbesi was one of the big name causalities in the just ended NDC primaries losing convincingly to the 35-year-old Ernest Norgbey.

Mr. Alfred Agbesi, who was seeking a fourth term bid in Parliament, only managed to poll 1,745 votes, with the winner, Ernest Norgbey polling a whopping 5, 171 votes.

Speaking to Citi News, Alfred Agbesi said he lost the elections because some party big wigs, including the National Chairman of the NDC, backed his opponent.

He alleged that the Constituency Chairman had an “articulated truck full of bags of rice going from house to house calling people to take it and go and vote [for his opponent].”

The defeated legislator  however noted that he is not by his claims suggesting that the election was not free and fair. According to him, he will advocate against the use of such money to influence voters.

Alfred Agbesi indicated that he is still on the side of the party and that he will make sure the NDC wins the 2016 election saying “I will campaign for the party in Ashiaman and I promise whoever is on the ticket of the NDC, I will do that.”
