Ghana’s premier consumer goods company, Unilever Ghana, was adjudged the Best Practices in Sustainable Manufacturing at the AGI awards held on Saturday, 21st November, 2015 at the State Banquet Hall in Accra.

This year’s awards, dubbed “Patronising made-in-Ghana goods to build strong industries”, sought to promote and maintain high business standards among businesses and industries in Ghana.

Unilever emerged winner in the Best Practices in Sustainable Manufacturing category through innovative sustainability practices.  Unilever achieved the remarkable feat of sending zero non-hazardous waste from its factory – in fulfilment of its Unilever Sustainable Living Plan (USLP) goal of reducing its environmental impact whilst creating a positive social impact.

Over the years, Unilever Ghana has undertaken various projects in line with the USLP goals that has ensured world class sustainable practices in its interactions with the environment and people within the communities it operates.

“We are happy to be recognised for our commitment to sustainable business practices. Protecting our environment will not only serve us well today but will also help in creating a brighter future for generations to come. As industry leaders, we are committed to bringing along other organisations and the government on this journey – to make sustainability the norm and not the exception” said Mr. Abdelaziz Salah, Supply Chain Director, Unilever West Africa.

Earlier this month, Unilever Ghana was adjudged CSR Manufacturing Company of the Year at the Ghana CSR Excellence Awards.
