Chairman of the National Hajj Board Alhaji Abdul Rauf Tanko Ibrahim, has been elected as the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for the 2016 elections, in the Yagaba-Kubori constituency of the Northern Region.

As a former Member of Parliament, he stood unopposed and was overwhelmingly endorsed during Saturday’s presidential and parliamentary primaries.

Alhaji Abdul Rauf Tanko Ibrahim told Citi News that the chiefs and people of Yagaba-Kubori called for his return to serve them, hence his decision.

The National Hajj Board Chairman said he never neglected his constituents since he left office.

He vowed to continue supporting the education of the youth among other social interventions. According to him, he was very instrumental in the creation of the Mamprusi-Mogduri District.

He thus promised to accomplish his unfinished transformational agenda which he started as the first MP for the constituency which was carved out of the Walewale constituency.

According to the National Hajj Board Chairman, the NPP MP used deceit and won the seat in 2012.

He chastised Yussif Mustapha for failing to meet the aspirations of the constituents in line with the numerous campaign promises he made at the last elections.

Alhaji Tanko Ibrahim is optimistic he will wrestle the seat in 2016 against the backdrop that the constituents have lost confidence in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP, Yussif Mustapha.
