Incumbent Member of Parliament for the Awutu Senya constituency in the Central Region, Hanna Tetteh, has downplayed threats by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for the constituency, George Andah to unseat her.

She is convinced her NPP opponent does not have what it takes to unseat her to become the Member of Parliament for the constituency.

[contextly_sidebar id=”lbD5w16wzcYB4BiX2dHwpRpp5hNETwtP”]The Foreign Minister on Saturday earned 97 per cent of the total votes cast in the constituency during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primary.

She polled 4,162 votes while her closest contender Captain Owiredu Asuako polled a meager 101 votes.

She will therefore be facing the NPP’s George Andah, a business consultant, in the 2016 parliamentary elections.

Speaking to Citi News after her victory, Hannah Tetteh described George Andah as a novice who does not have the experience to unseat her.

“Who is George? You are talking as if he is some political heavyweight. This is someone who has not contested elections before, who has never been in the political space before and I am supposed to be afraid of him?” she questioned in awe.

Responding to a suggestion that George  Andah may have resources and the needed experience to unseat her, she rhetorically asked “and I don’t have resources and experience?”.

She argued that she has enough experience both in politics and public service to retain her seat.

“I am the Foreign Minister, I have been Minister of Trade and Industry and I have won this seat twice and I have won an overwhelming mandate in the primaries and I am supposed to be afraid of someone who is, even if you want to be charitable, a novice. You are the people making George Andah somebody, I do not consider him a threat,” she said.
