No member of the National Democratic Congress whose name is not in the party’s biometric register can vote in the primaries.

This was revealed in a press statement by the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the party, Joseph Ade Coker, in response to the challenges some party members have encountered during the voting process in the country.

[contextly_sidebar id=”KuoYr6Rru8x6SXz2Bq9GoXj5ykjsjKsL”]Some card bearing members of the NDC have not been allowed to vote leading to a degree of confusion on the day.

Ade Coker, in the press release, noted as “falsehood” the allegations peddled by some aspirants and Electoral Commission officials that “NDC members can vote at today’s Presidential and Parliamentary primaries with NDC membership Card without having their names on the NDC Biometric Voters Register.”

The press release outlines key points pertaining to the eligibility of voters:

1. No NDC member can vote without having his/ her name on the Register

2. NDC members with membership Card but do NOT have their names on the NDC Biometric Voters Register can also not vote

3. Registered members who due to one reason or another do not have or misplaced their Party membership Card will be allowed to vote

A number of individuals who turned up to vote in today’s primaries, including the aspirant for the Klottey Korley constituency, Zanetor Rawlings did not find their names in the register and hence were not allowed to vote.

Ade Coker however assured party members who were confronted with sudch challenge that they will have an opportunity to register and have their names on the NDC Biometric Voters Register immediately after the primaries.
