President John Mahama has ahead of the much anticipated National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries tasked members of the party to ensure a peaceful election.

In a facebook post, the President was optimistic the NDC will prove after its primaries that it is an example of an all-inclusive democracy.

[contextly_sidebar id=”AaI7EgmAtpxqBvAOKxZvY6NJR6bBE2Zj”]“Tomorrow we will prove that NDC is a party in which everyone has a voice. In our party, we are not stuck in power struggles, and everybody has a chance to become a candidate,” he said.

“My brothers and sisters in the NDC, tomorrow we will hold our primaries. We have a great opportunity to show that we are an example of inclusive democracy,” the President added.

He also reminded party members to prove to Ghanaians that the NDC gives equal opportunities to individuals regardless of their backgrounds.

“Empowering the powerless, strengthening equality, giving everyone a voice– these are ideals we hold very dear in the NDC. Let every Ghanaian be inspired by our ideals, let your brothers and sisters in the NDC be proud of you,” the President wrote.”

NDC delegates are expected to go to the polls in 274 out of the 275 constituencies across the country to elect their parliamentary candidates for the 2016 elections. Voting in six constituencies has been suspended.

President Mahama will go unopposed while the various parliamentary candidates will battle it out with their contenders to represent the party in the 2016 general elections.
