Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun has been ushered into office as the new rector for the Takoradi Polytechnic.

Prof. Eshun takes over from Rev. Prof Daniel Nyarko who is on retirement after serving the polytechnic for some six years.

[contextly_sidebar id=”yLLjgfs2Ur82FYUHkA3cTj3fOHTaMhRO”]At his investiture ceremony, Rev. Frank Eshun promised to transform the Takoradi Polytechnic into a “lavish garden of knowledge.”

He said “as colleagues, as united family, as people who have the same goals and aspirations, the mutual respect and trust for one another, I believe we shall be able to make our home-Takoradi Polytechnic- a lavish garden of knowledge and scientific discovery.”

This he said requires that “I uphold the principle of plurality of opinions and views…I welcome the multiplicity and wish to assure members of staff that their views will always be listened to and considered.”

Academically, Prof. Eshun stated that the focus of his administration will be on improving the quality of teaching and learning facilities through academic programmes, resource mobilization, research, ICT and partnership with private sector for expected results.

“I shall be asking the Takoradi Polytechnic Council to assist us in building a solid ICT system in the whole polytechnic. All teaching staff must not only be ICT literate; they must also have easy access to and be proficient in using the information available in the cyber space,” he added

He concluded by reiterating the need for a stronger financial sustainability and long term viability of the polytechnic.

“In this vein, the first step is to exercise prudent stewardship over the resources that have been entrusted to our care. We will ensure effective, efficient and optimal use of all polytechnic resources.”
