The Ashanti Regional branch of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), is accusing President Mahama of malice for asking the police administration to ensure that killers of the Asawase NPP member, who was stabbed are apprehended  and made to face the law.

[contextly_sidebar id=”BqmDCsEOz3f7PGrDAiVB1D5jDL9BOE8U”]The 37-year- old was stabbed to death last Friday by unknown assailants for allegedly threatening to beat up the Constituency Chairman, who is believed to have made unpleasant comments about the flagbearer of the party, Nana Akuffo-Addo.

The President while in the Upper West Region said, “I’ve asked the Police to investigate and find those who did it and bring them to book.”

But speaking to Citi News, the regional Youth Organizer of the NPP, Justin Koduah, said the president’s call should be disregarded since it is not sincere.

He said “if the first gentleman in the land makes such a call by virtue of his position and with respect for that position it will be a welcome call, but having said that, let  us ask ourselves whether the president is speaking out of good faith or out of political malice.”

He added “let us not forget that even in NDC in the Ahafo Ano North constituency where there was a confrontation between the chairman and the treasurer which resulted in injuries to the chairman, we did not hear the president speak about it. So in a nutshell, we can say that the president’s action is out of malice and political propaganda which the NPP as a party will not take serious,” he stressed.
