Jordan Ayew scored in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday afternoon to keep the slight hope of a survival for his loan side Sochaux alive. The Ghanaian joined the club from Olympique Marseille in the January transfer window on a loan deal.

Sochaux went into the game against Nice on 34 points, four points behind the next available safe place which was occupied by Jonathan Mensah’s Evian Thonon Gaillard. The loss suffered by Evian on the match-day gives Sochaux a chance of surviving mathematically with two games to play.

Nemanja Pejcinovic scored an own goal on the brink of half time to give home side Sochaux a 1-0 lead as they went into the first half interval.

Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew put his side in a more comfortable zone scoring eleven minutes after the break to send Sochaux 2-0 up which ended up as the final scoreline.

The Ghanaian who was booked in the game was substituted in the 82 minute of the game.
