Ghana’s Jordan Ayew will now be taking instructions from former Lyon coach Remi Garde after he was named as the new Aston Villa boss on Monday.
Garde comes in to replace Tim Sherwood who was sacked after Villa lost 2-1 at home to Swansea.
The Frenchman, who is a former Arsenal player, is expected to watch Villa’s away tie at Tottenham on Monday before fully taking over the reins from caretaker coach Kevin McDonald.
Garde’s appointment was confirmed on Monday and he has already stated his pleasure at getting the job.
He is quoted by the BBC to have said: “It is an unbelievable honour to be the manager of such an illustrious football club,” he said.
“I’ve had extremely positive meetings with both the owner, Randy Lerner, and Chief Executive Tom Fox. They have ambitious plans for the Club and I’m excited that they have turned to me to help them realise them.
“Obviously we have a difficult task in front of us but I’m looking forward to the challenge with the support of everyone who loves Aston Villa.”
Garde’s first full match in charge will be against Manchester City on Sunday November 8 at Villa Park.
