The Immediate past Deputy Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Anlo constituency in the Volta Region, Wonder Victor Kutor, is the man to watch as he enters the race as the main contender against the incumbent Clement Kofi Humado, a former Cabinet Minister, who is seeking re-election.

Information picked up from the Anlo constituency suggests that it is a two-man race between the two personalities as they battle it out in the upcoming NDC parliamentary primaries scheduled for November 7.

A third force, Mr. Sylvester Tonyevah, who is the Municipal Chief Executive for Keta has entered the race but the NDC’s decision to expand the Electoral College appears to be playing in favor of the underdogs with Mr. Kutor on the lips of many in the constituency.

Ahead of the vetting however, the MCE withdrew from the race and cited personal reasons in a letter addressed to the Volta Regional chairman of the NDC.

The withdrawal of the MCE,  Sylvester Tonyevah, confirmed assertions that the race is a drawn battle between Mr. Victor Kutor and the incumbent, Kofi Humado.

Mr. Clement Kofi Humado will be entering the primaries with loads of experience because he has been the Member of Parliament for the area since 2004.

Among the credentials he will be flaunting, include his work at the Ministries of Youth and Sports and Food and Agriculture, which perhaps empowers him with resources to prosecute an effective campaign.

But despite these credentials, his removal from the Ministry of Youth and Sports under unexplained circumstances could also play up against him in view of the then Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial and Development Agency (GYEEDA) scandal which somewhat dented his image.

Mr. Kutor, who has also worked at the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum as a Research Assistant, may not be an easy push over after gaining some considerable experience in the public sector.

Mr. Kutor is a former branch organizer and deputy Constituency Secretary for the Anlo constituency.

He is therefore regarded as a grassroots man who could unseat the incumbent following the expansion of the Electoral College which downplays any monetary influences and gives advantage to contestants who are popular and appeal to the masses.

Mr. Kutor, who was the branch organizer of the Tegbi Aklamatsi Tovieme branch, was recently applauded following his free distribution of exercise books and computers whiles working as a Deputy Secretary for the party.

Mr. Kutor told Citi News he is confident about his chances in the primary “I know I am a young man without lots of resources but I’m in this race because of my rich message which includes education first, jobs for the youth, support for farmers, fishermen and traders and development for all”.

“In respect of education, I started supporting the schools within Anlo with free books and computers since 2014 under my BACK TO SCHOOL CAMPAIGN. As to whether I would win the primaries, I leave that to the voters and the Almighty God” he said.
