The members of the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSSAG) have issued a roadmap for an indefinite strike if government fails to pay their allowances in the next two weeks.
JUSSAG has been agitating over unpaid allowances which have been in arrears for some months now.
A statement signed by the Deputy General Secretary of the association, Charles Osei Bonsu cited allowances for leave, fuel and overtime as some benefits yet to be paid to them.
[contextly_sidebar id=”E2qxMjZs8cvvndpYPm5942adrJHzr5Y9″]The decision to strike according to JUSSAG has also become necessary because meetings with their employers have so far been unsuccessful.
The industrial action scheduled to take place from 2nd November 2015 will be conducted as follows;
- With effect from Monday 2nd November to Wednesday November 4, 2015 all members are to wear red arm bands at work nationwide.
- If by the close of work on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 the Association does not receive favorable response from government, effective Thursday November 5 to Friday November 6 2015, all members are directed to report and start work at 12:00 pm (partial withdrawal of service.)
- On Monday November 9, 2015 all members shall embark on an indefinite strike nationwide until all outstanding allowances are paid.
- The security personnel shall however report to work to protect life and property.
The group initially embarked on a similar action on the 19th of May this year. The action was subsequently suspended after the Employment and Labour Relations Minister, Haruna Iddrisu moved in to promise that the allowances will be paid by the last week of May.
But JUSSAG agitated once more on October 21 when it hinted of a strike over the non-payment of their accumulated allowances.
The latest is the current roadmap it has outlined in the statement issued to all members across the country.
