The suspended National Chairman of the NPP, Paul Afoko in a defiant move on Thursday, insisted that he attended the Electoral Commission’s forum on the voters’ register  in his capacity as the Chairman of the NPP.

Addressing journalists at the ongoing forum on the voters’ register, Mr. Afoko said, “I am here as the chairman of the NPP and I am here leading the team to ensure that the views of our party are heard and to ensure that we push through the reforms that we require for next year’s elections.”

The suspended National Chairman of the NPP appeared at the forum in the company of other top members of the NPP including the General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong and former Chairman, Mac Manu.

[contextly_sidebar id=”YJilrzoS3obnxw9HnhMjJFyDCjliE8JE”]Mr. Afoko was last Friday suspended by the National Executive Committee of the NPP following a recommendation by the Disciplinary Committee of the party.

His suspension has since been met with mixed reactions.

The flagbearer of the party, Nana Akufffo Addo has called on all members to comply with the decision of the  NEC.

Nonetheless some members are in court over the suspension.

Meanwhile Paul Afoko has expressed his support for the party’s call for a new voters’ register.

A five member panel constituted by the Electoral Commission is spearheading the two-day forum with representatives of the various political parties and civil society groups on whether or not a new voters’ register should be compiled prior to the 2016 general elections.
