Davis Opoku Ansah, an aide to the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyepong, has justified his boss’ decision to report the attack on him at the party headquarters on Tuesday to the Police.
The rear windscreen of Mr. Agyepong’s 4-wheel drive was smashed at the NPP headquarters on Tuesday by unknown persons, after he left a Steering Committee meeting, where he had gone to inform the leadership of a pending court suit over the suspension of the party’s National Chairman, Paul Afoko.
Citi News’ Duke Opoku Mensah who was at the party head office said the angry supporters attacked the vehicle because they believed Mr. Agyepong had attempted to disrupt the meeting over the pending lawsuit.

Hajia Fati has told Citi News her arrest was needless since Kwabena Agyepong caused the damage to the car himself.
Some have criticized Mr. Agyepong for involving the police in a matter that could have been handled internally by the party.
But Mr. Agyepong’s aide, Davis Opoku Ansah, says his boss acted appropriately.
“If somebody breaks into your house or car, as a law abiding citizen you need to report to the police. The report was not made by Kwabena Agyepong personally; it was those who were with him that reported the matter. So it’s not as if Kwabena Agyepong had gone to report a member of the party to the police. Secondly, if you have a car that is well insured, you need a police report to make claims from the insurance company so that’s what we went to do. I am not too sure if someone went to mention names at the police headquarters but let’s allow the police to do its work. If the police think that this is something that is repeating itself and they want to put a stop to it, so be it”.
He told Citi Eyewitness News they did not go to the police to mention any names, explaining the police may have invited Hajia Fati based on their own investigations.
“For somebody to throw a stone at the vehicle of the General Secretary of our party at the party headquarters is something that should not be condoned by anybody; and it’s important that this thing is investigated properly. If the party wants to investigate the matter, it’s also important that we allow the requisite institution with the skill and legal backing to investigate it” he noted.
Meanwhile Hajia Fati has served notice she will take legal action against Kwabena Agyepong for accusing her falsely.
