Northern Regional executives of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), have hailed Paul Afoko’s indefinite suspension as the party’s national Chairman.
Paul Afoko was suspended by the NPP disciplinary committee following a petition filed by two leading members of the party against him for misconduct.

The entire NPP Northern Regional executives also described the decision as the best.
The Northern Regional Secretary, Sule Salifu, told Citi News that Paul Afoko’s suspension will sanitize the party for victory in 2016.
He thus urged all NPP loyalists to respect the party’s disciplinary committee’s decision.
“NEC took that decision and any decision that is taken by NEC is binding on everybody. We are equally under NEC and any decision that they take represents the views of the party and that should be the party’s position.”
“In fact, what has even made it more credible is the support by the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo, and so on behalf of the Northern Regional secretariat of this party, the secretariat wishes to urge all our party officers all over the constituencies, polling stations and every regional executive to stand firm and respect the order of the National Executive Committee,” he stated.
Sule Salifu further debunked assertions that Paul Afoko was sacrificed because of his northern origin.
“If that is the case, then when Aliu Mahama was not elected as the flagbearer of the party, we should have left the NPP but we are still with the party.” Let’s do politics on principles and not on these tribal and religious sentiments. When party leadership take decisions that will inure to the benefit of the party and people issue statements to condemn them, I think that is a worrying development and we must condemn such statements,” Sule Salifu remarked.
Regional Youth Wing
The NPP’s Northern Regional youth wing have also supported the NEC’s decision.
A statement signed by the youth wing’s Secretary, Tintooni Progress, said the party is bigger than any individual’s interest.
He advised Paul Afoko’s sympathizers to stop the media warfare and rally behind Nana Akufo Addo for victory in 2016.
Tintooni Progress encouraged the party’s first national Vice Chairman, Freddie Blay, to initiate moves to attract floating voters in 2016.
