Three members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have gone to court seeking to nullify the outcome of the National Executive Committee meeting on Friday, which suspended the National Chairman, Paul Afoko.
Among the 30 defendants named in the suit include Nana Akufo -Addo, former President John Agyekum Kuffuor, Freddie Blay, C.K. Tedam, F.F Anto and Minority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu.

The trio earlier today secured an injunction to stop the NEC meeting held by the party earlier today that suspended Paul Afoko.
“Take notice that counsel for plaintiffs/applicants praying this honourable court for an order of interculotory against the defendant/respondent, their assigns and privys, agents, servants, workmen, allottess, grantees and successors in interest, other alienees, and relations whatsoever and howsoever described to restrain them from convening a meeting of the NEC of the NPP or any other such meeting, attending such a meeting or otherwise taking any disciplinary action against the chairman of the party until this dispute is finally determined and for such further other(s) as this honourable court may deem fit”, the injunction application stated.
However, the injunction notice could not reach any of the NEC members before the unanimous decision to suspend Mr Afoko.
Friday’s NEC meeting was marred by violence in the morning when members of the party’s private security, ‘Invisible Forces,’ burnt a motorbike and destroyed the windscreen of a taxi cab at the party office.
According to them, a youth group they suspect were members of ‘Bolga Bull Dog’ who are allegedly loyalists of Mr. Afoko had attempted to disrupt the meeting.
The council in the letter enumerated amongst others, the many challenges the party has been facing in recent months and the failure of the Chairman to restore order.
