An aspiring Member of Parliament in the La Dadekotopon constituency, Augustine Nii Amoa Nai, has scored the incumbent, Nii Amasah Namoale, 50 percent for his work in the constituency.

Nii Amoa Nai said although the incumbent has performed to the best of his ability, there is still more work to be done in addressing critical issues bordering on education, environment and social intervention policies.

The aspiring MP was speaking on Eyewitness News on Thursday.

[contextly_sidebar id=”WmjN5Mfpg2vDiWQoPko7nltZq7jmEWtM”]“I will give him 50 percent because I am coming with 90 percent …Educational standards have falling and you cannot call yourself a political figure when you cannot actually look at some of these issues and bring solutions to address them,” he said.

The incumbent, Nii Amasah Namoale is seeking a fourth term in office. But Mr. Nii Nai is optimistic he has the support to represent the people of La Dade-Kotopon and articulate their concerns in parliament.

“Once the people started calling on me to fill the seat, then it means the people are feeling uncomfortable and what this means is that, the moment there is a popular outcry from the people in La, that could be disastrous for the party”.

He added “The support is being derived from the youth. The greater number you will see is the youth and they are calling me to go and represent them in parliament.”

Key among issues of concern to residents within the constituency is the irregular supply of potable water. In Nii Mai’s opinion, addressing the situation will require that “within every ward or electoral area, we can create an overhead tank that will serve as a reservoir to serve the people of La- Dadekotopon.”

Meanwhile he is also confident of securing the seat in 2016 by winning over the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate,Vincent Sowah Odotey, who he describes  as a formidable force.

“I will defeat him on two counts because most people know my caliber of person as a youth. Also, I have been at the grassroot than him and he knows just that” Nii Mai said.
