An Accra High Court presided over by His Lordship Justice Ofori Atta, has dismissed a law suit filed by the Peoples National Convention (PNC) 2012 flag bearer, Hassan Ayariga against the party’s national Treasurer, David Apasera.

The court granted GHC 1,500 as damages to be paid by Hassan Ayariga.

Hassan Ayariga went to court over claims by some members of the PNC including David Apasera that he diverted GHC 1.6 million meant for the party’s 2012 campaigns.

In his application, Hassan Ayariga prayed the court to award him damages for alleged defamation.

However, his hope was dashed on Friday, May 2, 2014 by His Lordship Justice Ofori Atta.

The learned Judge upheld David Apasera’s Counsel, Lawyer Eric Osei Mensah’s argument that Hassan Ayariga’s law suit was deficient of the requirements of defamation.

Counsel for the PNC 2012 flag bearer, Lawyer Chris Ackumey at the last court sitting insisted that his client’s law suit satisfied all the requirements of defamation.

Elated David Apasera in a Citi News interview said, “He just wasted my time and fooled the public with his law suit.”

He advised Hassan Ayariga to go to school and study politics, saying, “I have said earlier that if he wants to lead the PNC he has to get back to school and get himself refined; nobody is going to pick a character like that who will go and mess up our name and create the impression that PNC is a party which has people who do not think.”
