The Volta Lake Transport Company lost almost 6 million cedis last year alone following a halt in its fuels transportation services.

A pusher tug that sails to Buipe with fuel including kerosene, diesel and petrol for markets in the Northern and upper regions and the northern parts of Brong Ahafo Region has failed to operate in the last year.

The Bulk Oil Storage & Transportation Company Limited has stopped supplying fuel into its storage tanks at Akosombo for transportation to Buipe due to investigations into earlier loses.

According to the chairman of the junior staff of the company Victor Amoah, “the problem is that BOST has the facility to store the fuel to the north and we’ve been shipping it all this while, like we have rightly mentioned to you about 70% of our companies revenue come from the fuel transport but unfortunately form last year, operations came to a halt”.

He explains that the Volta Lake Transport Company originally sails three or four times to Buipe every month to supply fuel and generates 120,000 cedis in revenue from every sail.

Mr. Victor Amoah further said the Volta Lake Transport Company is currently in a dire situation due to continuous mismanagement by the leadership of the company and workers have not been paid for the last month.
