Inflation for the month of September 2015 increased to 17.4% compared with the 17.3% recorded in August.

The food inflation rose to 7.8% compared to the 7.7% recorded for August, where as non food inflation recorded 23.2% which was three times the food inflation of 7.8%.
The consumer price index measures the change over time in the general price levels of goods and services that households require for the purpose of consumption.
The Chief Executive of the Ghana Statistical Service Dr. Philomena Nyarko told Citi Business News she expects a continues rise in inflation as 2015 comes to end.
The main price drivers for the non-food inflation rate were recreation and culture (29.0%), education (29.6%), transport (23.8%), clothing and footwear (24.9%), furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance (24.9%) and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (23.4%).
Four regions (Upper West, Ashanti, Greater Accra and Central) recorded inflation rates higher than the national average of 17.4%. Brong Ahafo Region recorded the same inflation rate as the national average of 17.4 percent.
