Grant names 19-man squad for Tuesday’s Ghana-Canada friendly

Ghana coach Avram Grant has named his 19-man squad for Tuesday’s international friendly against Canada in Washington.

The Black Stars trainer named four debutants for the match to played in the American capital as the Black Stars prepare for next month’s 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

USA-based midfielder duo of Llyod Sam and Kwadwo Poku get their first international call-ups after excelling in the American top-flight this season.

Germany-based defender Phil Ofosu-Ayeh is also named in the Black Stars squad for the first time as well as Finland-based former Kotoko defender Gideon Baah.

Sassuolo midfielder Alfred Duncan gets another chance to impress in the Black Stars after the Italy-based enforcer had a previous stint with the national team.

The squad is dominated by regular Black Stars players like goalkeeper Razak Brimah, John Boye and Leicester City left-back Jeff Schlupp.

Italy-based midfielders Agyemang Badu and Afriyie Acquah as well as Mubarak Wakaso.

Aston Villa striker Jordan Ayew and Abdul Majeed Waris and David Accam were also named by Avram Grant.

The Black Stars will take on Canada at the RFK Stadium in Washington DC.

The match will kick off on Tuesday at 7:30pm

Midfielders: Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu (Udinese, Italy), Afriyie Acquah (Torino, Italy), Mubarak Wakaso (Las Palmas, Spain), Lloyd Ekow Sam (New York Red Bulls, USA) Bernard Mensah (Getafe, Spain), Alfred Duncan (Sassuolo, Italy), and Kwadwo Poku (New York City FC, USA), Albert Adomah (Middlesbrough)
