Following the heavy downpour that flooded most parts of Accra on Friday, government is urging residents to move to higher grounds.
A statement signed by the Minister of Communications, Edward K. Omane Boamah further entreated Ghanaians to stay away from open drains.
“Government urges residents of Accra and all parts of the country to take note of the persistent downpour this morning. Residents are encouraged to stay away from open drains and move to higher grounds if they live in low-lying areas.”
The statement said, “in the event of an emergency, residents are advised to call 112.”
“The emergency services stand ready to respond swiftly to any distress calls that may emerge,” the statement added.
Parts of Accra got flooded during a heavy downpour which lasted over two hours.
Several properties running into thousands of Ghana cedis were lost.
Some automobile companies along the Graphic Road in Accra were not also spared by the rain.
