The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the Volta River Authority (VRA) of sabotaging the party’s flagbearer, Nana Addo’s ‘Rise and Build Tour’ in the Brong Ahafo Region.

Nana Akufo Addo could not deliver his full message to party members in the region due to a power outage but party executives in the region do not want to accept the incident as a mere happening considering that the country is experiencing power fluctuations.

[contextly_sidebar id=”b7iRamh0iRi00W6eLMq5WhwumiXxRQsD”]They believe the NDC deliberately collaborated with the VRA to disrupt Nana Addo’s speech.

In an interview with Citi News, the party’s former organizer for the Techiman North constituency , Peter Mensah said “the party picked up intelligence a section of  NDC sympathizers and supporters had  met the VRA  leadership in order to make Nana Addo’s programme very unpleasant and this is exactly what was witnessed.”

Meanwhile the Volta River Authority (VRA) in Techiman, has rubbished the allegation that they deliberately disrupted the programme in cahoots with the NDC.

Speaking to Citi News, the Head of Maintenance and Supervision at the VRA sub-station in Techiman,  Edward Hansen, admitted there was power outage while Nana Addo was delivering his speech but was quick to add that it was not “intended”.

“It was an outage that happened on our 161 line. We have the records in our Techiman/GRIDCO control room that indicates that between 11:33 to 11: 51, the system went off and this is not unusual. Usually some of these things happen and perhaps it only coincided with Nana Addo’s programme; It was not deliberate at all. “

Nana Addo has for sometime now been touring the various regions and meeting with party executives.

He is hoping to prepare the party for a campaign that will “energize Ghanaians to help build and restore the country onto a path of progress and prosperity,” a statement from his office said.

He is expected to end his tour in the Greater Accra Region.
