A group of National Democratic Congress (NDC) members in the Ashaiman constituency has warned the Party’s National Chairman, Kofi Portuphy to stay away from the primaries in the area or face their wrath.

[contextly_sidebar id=”PU8qpCx3fjRXLP1PFps0fQfeBHavOk82″]According to Yakubu Salifu, the convener of the group calling itself the Ashaiman NDC Taskforce, ‘they will resist vehemently any plots by Kofi Portuphy to skew the party primaries in his favour.

Yakubu Salifu further said, “the covert dealings with which, he [Kofi Portuphy] became National Chairman will not be allowed to fly this time round in the constituency.”

The group alleged that the National Chairman of the NDC is strategically positioning his cronies in the various constituencies across the country in order to use them to retain the chairmanship in subsequent years.

In an interview with Citi News’ Elvis Washington, Salifu Yakubu accused Kofi Portuphy of doing nothing for the party and using foul means to win the party’s chairmanship position.

“He [Kofi Portuphy] just came and was made party chairman, he has done nothing for the party” he said.

According to him, Mr Portuphy is plotting to use the same strategies to retain the position, a plot they are ready to thwart.

Some party loyalists in Ashaiman had earlier threatened to block the parliamentary primary elections in the area in the event of any unjustified disqualification.

This comes as the NDC continues to vet its parliamentary aspirants across the nation pending the November 7, NDC presidential and Parliamentary primaries.
