Former Asante Kotoko coach Masud Dramani has revealed that he still speaks with some of the current players of the team months after he was sacked.
Dramani was relieved of his job in February this year after the first 9 matches in the 2014/2015 First Capital Plus Premier League.
But the current Black Princess’ coach says the players talk to him regularly even on personal matters and that he even feels hurt when the team loses matches.
“I am still in touch with the players and they see me as their father and older brother. I feel for them and I understand their situation at the club especially in terms of finances. Players survive mainly on their bonuses and not their salaries. Some of them are the bread winners of their families and you become touched when you start seeing things that way,” Dramani said to Citi Sports’ Rahman Osman.
He went on to say that he shared the stresses of his replacement, David Duncan, in relation to the job because of the high demands of the fans who love the club and want to see success.
“I know how much Kotoko fans love their team. They are passionate about the club’s well-being. I feel for whoever is handling the team because of the pressure of the job. Very often in my time there, I would meet fans after matches and they would express their sadness at a bad result or performance and I would tell them to keep supporting the team since the next match would be better.”
Dramani won the league twice and the MTN FA Cup once with Kotoko in his three-year stay in Kumasi.
