The Judicial Committee established to investigate the 22 lower court magistrates allegedly captured on camera for taking bribes is expected to resume sitting today.

[contextly_sidebar id=”kwy5XtLmZFYe9DLBce3zNUdW22r86hua”]The committee last week suspended sitting due to some court cases in relation to the judicial corruption scandal.

14 of the 22 implicated lower court magistrates were in court seeking for the court to declare as illegal, the composition of the committee of inquiry and also declare as null and void, their subsequent suspension.

But the court presided over by an Appeals Court Judge, Justice Gertrude Torkunor on Tuesday, dismissed the application stating that the Judicial Council was only performing its administrative role by appointing the committee to look into the matter, an action she says “cannot be illegal.”

The application to strike out the case was brought by the Attorney General.
