The Inspector General of Police Mohammed Alhassan has said a docket on the indicted senior Police officer, COP Patrick Timbillah has been forwarded to the office of the Attorney General for further action.
[contextly_sidebar id=”Ey6PX56sq5aqUpZm9bp3OjwUbR2TiN14″]COP Timbillah was interdicted six months ago for his alleged role in the sale of fake Police recruitment forms to scores of Ghanaians.
Addressing the media at a press conference in Accra, the IGP added that COP Timbillah and others were still under a service enquiry.
“The matter is still under service enquiry,” he said adding that “you may note that this involve so many people throughout the country and due process sometime takes time because you have to call witnesses from all over the country.”
He explained that “…Indeed our SOP gives an initial period of 42 days after which on application by the presiding officer, it can be extended by the inspector general of Police.”
“Remember, in all these cases officers are already on interdiction, dockets have already been forwarded to the Attorney General so be reassured that nothing will be done to shield anyone within our service that is found culpable,” the IGP added.
Over 100 men and women turned up at various Police training schools in February for enlistment into the Ghana Police Service but it was later discovered that they had been duped by fraudsters.
Some officials of the Police Service were implicated in the scam including the Service’s Director-General in-charge of Human Resource, COP Patrick Timbilla.
COP Timbilla and the other indicted officers were subsequently interdicted.
About five civilians were also arrested in connection with the scam.
