An Accra High court presided over by Justice Getrude Torkonoo on Tuesday dismissed an injunction application filed by some lower court judges cited in the Anas judicial corruption scandal, against the five member committee investigating the matter.

He reported that the Judge explained that “she is going to be dealing with the substantive matter which had not been aired yet so per her discretion and power she decided to dismiss the injunction case so she can quickly deal with the substantive case.”

The lower court judges in their suit argued that the investigative committee does not have the authority to sanction them, adding that it is only a court of competent jurisdiction that must try them before any sanction from the service.

The committee subsequently suspended its sitting pending the outcome of the suit.

The new ruling now empowers the committee to go ahead with its work.
