The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akuffo Addo has called for due process to be followed in the case involving some implicated lower and high court judges for alleged cases of bribery.
Nana Addo who believes persons found culpable in the bribery scandal should be duly punished however warned that the process should be carried out in a manner that will not violate the rights of the accused.

“…There should be due process not only to safeguard the rights of the judges involved but also to ensure that wrongdoers are punished and no one however elevated in society, is seen to be above the law… we are all equal before the law,” he said.
34 lower and high court judges have allegedly been captured in a video accepting bribe to influence their judgements.
A five member committee headed by Supreme Court Judge, Sophia Adinyira which has been constituted by the Chief Justice to establish the truth, has currently suspended sitting following some cases pending in court in relation to the matter.
Nana Addo further also advocated efficient measures to ensure that confidence is restored in the judiciary,
“I believe it is imperative on us to be careful and handle these things in a manner that will keep the dignity of our institution and maintain confidence in the judicial process,” he said.
Meanwhile an Accra High Court will on Tuesday rule on an injunction application brought against the judicial committee of inquiry investigating the bribery allegations.
The Attorney General has submitted an affidavit seeking that the Accra High Court dismisses the case presented to it by lawyers of the lower court judges.
However the court presided over by Appeals Court Judge, Justice Gertrude Torkonoo, on Friday upheld the case presented by the AG’s department as it dismissed a preliminary objection raised by lawyers for the 22 implicated judges.
