Arguably one of Ghana’s finest lyricists, Mr.Kwame Nsiah Apau better hailed as Okyeame Kwame (OK) has announced that in pursuit of the next phase of his career and other opportunities he has decided to end his brand ambassadorial relationship with telecommunications giant MTN with effect from September 18.

Together, Okyeame and MTN forged a give and take relationship that saw each other leveraging off the other’s platforms for mutually beneficial purposes.

Okyeame Kwame believes 5 years of icon association, though beneficial, is also restrictive in the areas sponsorships, performances and innovation. Hence, the need to move on.

While promoting the MTN brand he released 2 albums and 2 singles and also won 6 prestigious awards. Key among his achievements was his  Hepatitis B advocacy across the nation, which has helped raise the awareness of the general populace and was co-supported by MTN Ghana foundation.

OK appreciates the support MTN provided during the past 5 years and wishes the company the very best in its mission to lead the Ghanaian telecommunications market.

“It is important for corporate Ghana to invest in supporting artistes who seek to leave a legacy greater than their music and I want to commend them for what has been a great experience”.

On the verge of celebrating his twenty year milestone at the top of the competitive music industry, OK – as he goes by now – is currently trending with his latest single titled “small small” which features a fine collaboration with Ghana’s Dancehall Queen Mzvee.

He is filming a world class video with Phamous Philms to compliment the hit song whose message and relevance comes at a time when Ghanaians from all walks of life need to do a re-examination of their lifestyles based on the principles of hardwork, integrity and commitment to sustainable personal growth.

“Everyone wants to succeed overnight in endeavours which naturally require greater investments of time, hard work and dedication.  I believe as artistes we must contribute our quota to national development by using our celebrity status to help engage our communities both around fun as well as serious issues”.

Okyeame Kwame (OK), who is a family man is currently a student at the University of Ghana, Legon, pursuing a master’s degree in Marketing Strategy.
