Former Black Stars defender Samuel Osei Kuffour believes the presence of former national team players around the current Black Stars team will help Ghana excel at the World Cup in Brazil.
He explained that the experience gathered by the former players would enhance to the guidance of head coach Kwesi Appiah and grow confidence in the team.
“I think we, as former players, should go and be with the team in Brazil and make them feel our presence.
“It is very important because we can help the players in difficult situations.”
“Some may not be strong-minded so we can help and encourage them,” the former Bayern Munich player said in Accra on Monday in a meeting of former national players and the Ghana Football Association.
Kuffour, who played for Ghana in the 2006 World Cup in Germany, added that aside tactics and technical preparation, advice and motivation would be important to Ghana in the World Cup.
“It goes beyond tactics. There are other things that are equally important.
We want to advice the players and share tips with them on what they can do to improve their performances in their given roles in the tournament.”
Ghana will play against the USA, Portugal and Germany in Group G of the World Cup in Brazil which starts on the 12th of June.
