One of the accused High Court judges in the recent judicial corruption scandal exposed by investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, is set to drag the Managing Director of Global Cinemas, Ernest Boateng, to court for contempt.

Justice Dery’s suit is on the basis that Mr. Ernest Boateng has advertised his intent to air the judicial corruption exposé at his video center at Weija in Accra.

[contextly_sidebar id=”0WyVyf1MWY0m5vsSkUV18nx6ei2MysHA”]According to an application for committal for contempt cited by Citi News, the judge insists that although he has several suits pending at both the Fast Track High Court and the Supreme Court, Ernest Boateng on Wednesday advertised in the Daily Graphic his intent to screen the video.

Already, the judge implicated in the judicial corruption scandal has sued the Manager of the Accra International Conference Center Kofi Appiah for contempt of the court after the video was screened at the facility.

He has also taken a legal action against Accra-based Starr FM seeking to stop them from publishing content of the video; and has sued United Television (UTV), for showing portions of the video despite a pending interlocutory injunction on the public viewing of the video.

Paul Dery wants the court to punish them because in his view, their conduct is calculated to bring the authority of the law into disrepute.

Meanwhile hearing of the suit where fourteen magistrates are seeking an injunction to be placed on the work of a judicial committee investigating the alleged corruption is expected to continue today.

The case which is being heard by a High Court was adjourned when it was first called on Monday to allow lawyers for the magistrates respond to an application filed by the Attorney General asking for their case to be dismissed.

The magistrates are questioning the legality of the procedure employed by Judicial Service to suspend them as well as to investigate allegations of corruption against them.
