The immediate past chairperson of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) Samia Nkrumah has said  the only way Ghana can overcome the current economic crises is for leaders of the nation to go back to the policies of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

In an interview with Citi News, Samia Nkrumah dismissed claims that the ideas of the Osagyefo are irrelevant today.

She insisted that “Kwame Nkrumah is not for the past, but for the present and the future and the only way for Ghana to progress and to raise the living standards of our people is to go back to Osagyefo’s plans and programmes.”

She said it is expedient on nation to revisit “the strong industrialization drive that he [Nkrumah] started by establishing dozens and hundreds of manufacturing plants and factories so that we boos

58 years after independence, Ghana has been struggling to revive its ailing economy and is depending on a programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to save it from further economic turbulence.

Samia Nkrumah opined that “our first duty is to industrialise; this is why we gained political independence…so we have to go back to these ideas and values that made it possible for Ghana to have economic breakthrough.”
