The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo Addo, has promised reduce poverty in Ghana if he is elected as president.

He said he would this through a comprehensive restructuring of the economy, thereby eliminating all difficulties Ghanaians are currently experiencing under president Mahama’s National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.

[contextly_sidebar id=”3dF6uP8qr9qn09rNHj8YWCo6moEk14vD”]Addressing NPP members in the Upper East Region on his ‘Rise and Build’ tour,  Nana Addo urged all party members and executives to work hard to ensure the party’s victory in the 2016 general elections.

“…And what will the victory mean, it mean we can then begin to do something about poverty in our country. We can do something about restoring a decent educational system, a decent health care system, decent agriculture system and a decent road transportation system.

“This is what victory is going to mean, that we are going to get away from all the difficulties that we are having now. The difficulties of paying our children school fees, the difficulties involving in getting people going to the hospital, the difficulties of the farmers who don’t get the inputs for their work, all these the NPP will banish if we are given the opportunity of power because we have done it before and we are coming back to do it again.”

Nana Addo added “a particular concern to me, of the things we will have to do…is to have a year round agriculture in the northern sector of our country.”

“It has been done in Burkina Faso and we can have it here in Ghana with the proper training and the proper branding,” he explained.

He also stated that, the Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) which has become a white elephant as a result of massive corruption and mismanagement under the NDC John Mahama government will become the proper instrument for the development of the northern regions that it was intended to be under the NPP administration in 2017.

He reiterated that  the NPP will ensure a stable and stronger Ghanaian cedi to the US dollar to harness business transaction international and create a an enabling business environment that will create employment for the teaming unemployed.

“And above all, I want you to go away remembering  one thing, I am not a thief, I am not coming to put my hands in Ghana’s money for my pocket and that of my family, I am coming to work for you, I am coming to work for you so that we will have a better life,” Nana Addo stressed.
