The Walewale Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused government of “totally neglecting” the area.
Walewale, a small town, is the administrative capital of West Mamprusi District in the Northern Region of Ghana.
According to Simon Ali, the NPP Constituency Secretary in Walewale, the NDC government has since its assumption of office in 2009 failed to complete rural electrification projects started in many parts of the Northern Region by the erstwhile Kufuor government.
“Since 2009 when this current government took over power, not even one community in the West Mamprusi District has been hooked onto the national grid,” he alleged.
He recalled, “Successive governments such as the Kufuor administration hooked not less than 10 communities onto the national grid and even some of the projects that were started by the Kufuor government have been abandoned.”
Mr. Ali therefore reminded government of its pledge to bridge the gap between rural and urban dwellers through such interventions.
