Pro-opposition pressure groups, Let My Vote Count Alliance, the Alliance for Accountable Governance and the Movement for Change have hit the streets to demand the creation of a new voters’ register.
The three groups, with support from the youth wing of the New Patriotic Pary (NPP), were forced to suspend plans to picket at the premises of the EC and parliament, to press home their demands.
This was after the Police secured a restraining order against the groups.
Citi News’ Duke Opoku Mensah who is covering the demonstration said, “the protesters are in white, brandishing various placards and messages such as ‘No votes in 2016’, ‘Mahama Aden’ …,” among others.
NPP stalwarts including the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi is with the demonstrators.
The National Youth Organiser 0f the party, Sammy Awuku and the leaders of AFAG were also present.
Duke Opoku Mensah estimated that the number of protestors may well be over 800.
