Boxer Ayittey Powers has revealed his intention to give away his earnings from the “Judgement Day” bout with Braimah Kamoko aka Bukom Banku to charity.

The May 16 bout at the Accra Sports Stadium is billed to be the biggest in Ghana in recent years and it is believed both boxers will earn about twenty thousand cedis as purses but that prospect does not appeal to Powers who is willing to give away his share to the less privileged in society.

“I feel like giving all that money to the people who do not have. My spirit tells me to do that and so I will heed”, he said in an interview with Citi Sports on Friday.

Powers indicated that the earnings had not been calculated on who wins or loses but rather the organisers, Box Office Promotions, offered to pay him that amount.

He added he was training effectively for the bout which has seen two postponements already since its announcement earlier this year.

“I am doing well and I am training is on course. I am not thinking about Bukom Banku and I am ready to fight at any moment.

I had been training in Australia before the fight was fully put together so I do not see any major shifts in readiness.

What I am interested in is letting Banku know that it will be a bad time for him when we meet on the 16th of May.”
