The Incumbent Member of Parliament for the Tongu Central constituency, Joe Gidisu said he is poised to retain the seat for the fourth time.

The former Roads and Highways Minister filed nominations to contest as parliamentary candidate on the ticket of the NDC for what will be his 5th term in parliament.

[contextly_sidebar id=”YitX8ATZsPxvcmtYwifAmMurOSa3r9bV”]Joe Gidisu who has retained the Tongu Central seat since 2004 will face keen competition from Gabby Hotordze who also filed his nomination at the party’s constituency office.

The other aspirant, Franklin Agbanator’s nomination forms was initially rejected by the constituency office because he refused to pay the development levy expected of all new entrants to the party’s parliamentary candidates race in the Volta Region.

He subsequently filed his forms at the party headquarters in Accra.

Gabby Hotorwodze told Citi News  that he is confident of winning the primaries against the incumbent Joe Gidisu.

“I have been a grassroot member of the party in the constituency, I have been an assembly member and this will be my second shot at the primaries” he added.

He further stated that, “it is God who installs kings and removes them, hence, whoever God chooses to be the MP for the area will be”

Meanwhile, Joe Gidisu says he has undertaken  projects in the constituency that will ensure his victory in the primaries.

According to the Tongu Central incumbent MP, “there are no schools under trees in the district and all major roads in the district and beyond have been completed during his tenure as Member of Parliament and Minister of Roads and Highways.

He  said “the work done by the government will speak for itself; hence the NDC government will win massively in the Region in 2016”

Joe Gidisu entered parliament in 2001 as Member of Parliament for the North Tongu succeeding Austin Gamey.

He later in 2004 switched to the newly formed Tongu Central Constituency where he became MP and has retained the seat ever since.
