The 45-year-old Oyarifa branch Youth Organiser George Boateng, who was seeking to contest President John Mahama in the upcoming primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been disqualified by the party.

[contextly_sidebar id=”uZLv1iWcc20GvlsGLBRoLZ0uiaahELCQ”]George Boateng earlier threatened to place an injunction on the presidential primaries if the party fails to make available a copy of the presidential nomination forms to enable him to file and contest Mahama.

But speaking at a press briefing in Accra on Friday, the NDC General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia said the party has decided not to waste its time on someone who did not know the procedure for filing his nomination.

He explained that the NDC party is “engaged in very serious business” since “the person who will emerge apart from being the presidential candidate will be the leader of this party.”

“So that is why in the drama of George Boateng, we indicated that we are not here for that thing and we are seriously engaged in the business of selecting our candidate.”

The NDC scribe noted that if George Boateng feels that he “…is a credible candidate and wants to take advantage of the process, [he] can come through the laws and the forms will be made available to him.”
