Managers of the Micro Finance Company have been directed by the Bank of Ghana to pump in 50 million Ghana cedis into their operations before they would be allowed to continue servicing clients.

In an exclusive interview on Citi Fm’s Consumer focused program, Business Today, the Head of Licensing and Resolution Office at the Bank of Ghana, Joseph Frimpong – Manso assured customers of the company that the BoG would protect their interest.

‘We will by Friday September 11, make a public statement on the way forward with DKM Microfinance Company.

That GHc50 million that people are talking about that the company is supposed to give to us is not actually meant for the Bank of Ghana but it is monies that we have said that they should inject into the business so that they would be able to honor all customers’ withdrawals.”

DKM Microfinance Company which began operations in 2005 is headquartered in Sunyani and has branches in Bolgatanga in the Upper East region.

The company was closed down by the regulator for operating in contravention of the Banking act and awarding unrealistic interest rates to customers.
