A journalist with Success FM in Goaso in the Brong Ahafo region has been shot dead by a group of suspected robbers.

King George was reported to have met his untimely death when he was attacked on the Mamfe- Sankore road in the region.

It is unclear why King George was shot since reports indicate that the assailants took nothing away from him.

A colleague to the deceased, Atiwine Mohammed who confirmed George’s death to Citi News said he suspects foul play.

He stated that on Thursday his colleague came to his office to ask for permission to follow up on a report only to be later informed that he passed away.

“He left my office around 2.45 and when he arrived at Sankore, he did not call me but I personally called him around 4: 32 and when I called him I asked him what was the latest on the ground. He asked me to give him five minutes and that he will call me. Yesterday when I called him, a Policeman and asked me to come to the Goaso government hospital. I went to the hospital and I found out that he was shot dead. They shot him in the right arm,” he said.

He could however not explain whether the development was linked to the investigative piece the journalist was pursuing.

Meanwhile the body has since been deposited at the Goaso Government hospital but the Police is yet to make any arrest in connection with the incident.
