A group of unemployed graduates describing themselves as “the Unemployed Graduates with Disabilities,” are threatening a massive demonstration to protest their unemployment status.
According to the group, the decision has become necessary after unsuccessful attempts to get the employment ministry and allied agencies to employ them.

Spokesperson for the group, Yeboah Afari in an interview with Citi News was hopeful the demonstration will help address their problem.
“We’ve done all that we could but it has gotten to a point where we think we need to activate all the rights that we have, so we have decided to embark on a peaceful demonstration on September 22 to back this demand,” he said.
Yeboah Afari added that the group will not leave the premises of the place of convergence on the said date until they get a positive response from the government.
“We are going to demonstrate and we are going to stay wherever we will converge, we will stay there until we get something concrete from the government.”
The demonstration is expected to commence at the Obra Spot at Circle and end at the Hearts of Oak Park where the protesters will be staying till their issues are addressed.
President of the Central University College, Professor Kwesi Yankah has predicted that the number of unemployed graduates in the country of 200,000 would rise to by 71,000 hence the need for industry and academia to collaborate to find a solution to the unemployment problem.
The head of economic division at the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), Dr. Charles Ackah has advised graduates to consider venturing entrepreneurship in a bid to help address the alarming graduate unemployment in the country.
