The duo have been responsible for all of their side’s seven goals this season, with the Frenchman leading the way with four, scoring in every match.

Ghanaian international Andrew Ayew and his Swansea City teammate, Bafetimbi Gomis and manager, Garry Monk, have been nominated for Barclays Premier League awards for the month of August.

Garry Monk is among the candidates for the Manager of the Month award after leading his side to an unbeaten start in August following victories over Newcastle and Manchester United along with draws against defending champions Chelsea and Sunderland.

Monk won last year’s August award after leading his side to three straight victories as he became the first Swans manager since Brendan Rodgers in January 2012 to win the accolade.

Ayew has made an instant impact following his summer switch from Marseille on a free transfer, with the Ghanaian winger scoring three goals in four games, along with assisting the winning goal against Manchester United.

The 25-year-old announced his arrival in the Premier League with an equalizer against Chelsea on his debut as the Swans picked up a point following a 2-2 draw.

And he followed that up with headed goals against Newcastle and Manchester United, with his sublime pass setting up Gomis for the winner in the latter game.

Gomis, too, has been in fine form with the French striker scoring a goal a game so far.

The 30-year-old scored from the spot in the opening match against Chelsea after he was brought down by goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who was then sent off.

Gomis then opened the scoring in the next game against Newcastle at the Liberty before again breaking the deadlock in the trip to Sunderland.

His last goal of the month came against Manchester United as he coolly slotted home the winner to round off a successful August for the Swans.

On Saturday, Gomis aims to become the first Swansea City player to score in the club’s opening five league matches when Monk’s men visit newly-promoted Watford.

If Ayew or Gomis are named Player of the Month they become the first Swans player to lift the award since Gylfi Sigurdsson, who was on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, in March 2012.

The winners will be announced on Friday morning.
