About 18 shops at Roman Hill trading area near the Kumasi Central Market in the Ashanti Region, have been razed to the ground.
Citi News’ Ashanti Regional Correspondent, Loretta Tima, said officials of the Fire Service arrived at the scene to prevent the fire from spreading.
It is unclear yet what might have caused the fire.
The Kumasi Central Market has in recent times recorded a number of similar incidents where traders in some instances lost properties worth thousands of cedis.
