President John Dramani Mahama has said that the victory won by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2012 was because of hard work and God.

[contextly_sidebar id=”zPOpkaJnzVreDvN1tYNbFmctKAQeACqG”]He told a group of NDC loyalists at the party’s headquarters in Accra on Monday that “our never failing God won for us in 2012 and he will in 2016.”

President John Mahama said this after filing his nominations forms to contest in the party’s presidential primaries for the 2016 election.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) challenged the results of the 2012 election at the Supreme Court alleging that some of the results were rigged to favour NDC’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama.

The Supreme Court after eight months subsequently affirmed President Mahama as the winner of the 2012 elections.

“Three years after our historic victory in 2016, the NDC still remains the strongest political group in this country…Together with one voice let us be clear that we will continue the agenda for transformation,” President Mahama charged the crowd.

President Mahama told the NDC supporters that “I have a mission to build on the foundation laid by my predecessors, Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufour and John Evans Mills.”

“I expect that all of us will go into this battle in unity and Insha Allah we’ll emerge victorious,” he added.
