He admitted that duty of providing money for the nations participation is the responsibility of the state but negotiations are ongoing with a number of corporate organizations to lend their support to the Commonwealth agenda
“What i can say is that a lot of discussions are on going with many corporate bodies and individuals to aid the GOC in both cash and kind and so its something that we are giving a lot of concern,” he told Citi Sports.
Chris Essilfie also revealed that the budget for the games is yet to be decided on by the sports authorities responsible.
“This is a figure which has a lot of questions around it because the budget that we have is something that is still being fine tuned between the Sports Authority and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
“We are far from obtaining our financial target but let me make it clear that the sole responsibility lies with the government to provide funds and you can only rely on corporates to support you and not to take up all your expenses,” he said.
Ghana will be represented in ten sporting disciplines at the games including swimming, table tennis, weight lifting, badminton, judo, boxing and cycling.
