Residents of Sakogu in the East Mamprusi District in the Northern region have fled the community into the forest following a shooting incident today that left one person dead.
The deceased, 40 year old Yakubu Laari was dragged for several meters and later shot dead.
Wednesday’s shooting follows similar occurrences which have left people in and around some communities living in fear.
On Tuesday, the northern regional police command arrested four persons in connection with an isolated shooting incident in Savelugu which also left one person dead.
Speaking on Accra based Joy Fm, Public Relations Officer of the Northern regional Police Command, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh indicated that “we have men on the ground and keeping the situation under control. What we can say is that we cannot point any links to the recent Kokomba Mamprusi clash because there is no information to substantiate that”.
The body has been deposited at the morgue.
