Charles Antwi, the man who confessed he planned to assassinate President Mahama, is still in the custody of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), despite a court ruling which that he should be taken  for him to be released to the Psychiatric Hospital for treatment.

[contextly_sidebar id=”KOpD2a2JcMwBlX4GhuLCDvzVteS6D2f1″]An Accra Human Rights court freed Charles Antwi following an appeal by human rights lawyer, Xavier Sosu who insisted that the self confessed gunman was wrongfully prosecuted.

An Accra Circuit Court presided over by Justice Francis Obiri, sentenced Charles Antwi to 10 years imprisonment for the illegal possession of a fully loaded locally manufactured gun.

Meanwhile the Chief Psychiatrist, Dr. Akwesi Osei has requested for improved security at the hospital to enable them keep Charles Antwi.

But speaking to Citi News, the Communication Director at FX Law and Associates, Alex Kodzo Missadji said Charles Antwi was still a threat to himself and society, hence the need to hold him at the BNI,

“…Because of the threat that he poses to the number one gentleman of the country, it is advised that there is a close watch on him,” he said.
