Police in Kasoa say they are conducting investigations into the clashes that led to the death of one person and two others who sustained injuries at Kojo Oku near Kasoa on Thursday.
Violence erupted in the area on Thursday over a disputed parcel of land, when the supposed owner arrived with a team to demolish properties on it.
The residents engaged in a scuffle with some security personnel who accompanied the demolition team.

“It’s only three people that we have information that they were injured, as far as we know, there is nobody dead as at now, we are now conducting investigations into the matter,” he said.
“We heard of the problem about people being disgruntled over there, we went there to restore calm and we are now trying to find out what led to whatever happened over there, give us a little bit of time to conduct a little bit of investigation so we can give you a concrete information as to whatever transpired over there,” ACP Joseph Oklu added.

Meanwhile a resident who narrated the incident to Citi News attributed the clashes to a misunderstanding between the residents and the security personnel after they(residents) demanded a court permit for the demolition.
“What I know in Ghana is that any demolition should be backed by a court order, you cannot just lord yourself on people you accuse to be encroachers just because you own the parcel of land. That is why we also resisted,” he said.
The resident also indicated that the security lashed out at them following an earlier failed attempt.
He further stated that the said security personnel came in unidentifiable vehicles and without proper identification cards.
“The vehicles that were used had their registration numbers covered while the soldiers had their name tags taken off,” he stated.
