Public sector workers are expected to be provided with terms of conditions of service by the end of the year.
This is the indication being given by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC).
According to the CEO of the FWSC, George Smith Graham, plans are being enrolled to ensure that all employees in all government organisations are provided with conditions of service.
Members of the Ghana Medical Association embarked on a three week strike in August over government’s inability to provide them with codified terms of conditions of service.
The strike led to the suspension of providing medical care to Out-Patients Department (OPD) and some emergency cases at the various public health facilities across the country.

“It is something that we have already programmed ourselves to continue work on every single organisation and make sure that they have conditions of service;whether they have some now and has to be reviewed or they do not have some at all,” he said.
“…It is in our plan that we should be able to conclude all these things before the end of the year, we are working hard at it so that at the end of it all we will be able to say that every organisation within the public service will have conditions of service,” Mr. Graham added.
Presently, the doctors have returned to the hospitals. According to the GMA, the decision followed the numerous appeals from the general public and other stakeholders to return to the office while negotiations continue with government.
